Our YMCA has a rich history of community support and engagement which is always treasured and welcomed.

As a volunteer bringing your energy, passion, interest and/or skill set to help make a difference across the programmes we run, in our governance, in creating and supporting fundraising we undertake, in tending our gardens and even shaping our future.

Often we’re asked from within the community ‘how can we help and why should we choose the YMCA?’ The answer quite simply is – your help changes lives.
The most precious thing you can give us is your time. As a volunteer bringing your energy, passion, interest and/or skill set to help make a difference across the programmes we run, in our governance, in creating and supporting fundraising we undertake, in tending our gardens and even shaping our future.
Your passion whether be in crafts, building, fishing, sports, games, reading, camping and tramping, life skills, maths, Te Reo and your culture, gym, dance, baking and cooking… our Childcare, After School, Holiday and Youth programmes would love to have your involvement and expertise to shape our kids futures.
You may be looking to complete your Duke of Edinburgh Award so our Volunteering opportunities fit perfectly in assisting your attainment.
We assist other organisations across the bay with their events such as the Horse of the Year and off Road rallies which provide amazing days out and we always need help at camp time.
If you’re 16 and older we’d love your help.
