At the end of this year, we will sadly farewell Lucia Wilson, our office administrator (pictured left).
Lucia started working for YMCA Hawke’s Bay back in January 2018, as a high school student helping with our holiday programmes. After she finished school, Lucia went to EIT to study a Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in accounting. She continued to work for us at our after school and holiday programmes.
In a lucky break, we needed a temporary office administrator at the same time Lucia finished at EIT. This was a win:win - it gave us cover and provided Lucia a full time job while she looked for an accounting role. That temporary role lasted 12 months with Lucia becoming a great asset to our customers, cheerfully helping with bookings, and answering all their queries.
We are sad to see Lucia leave us but are thrilled that she has secured a position with a local accounting firm where she will be able to put her degree to good use. We wish Lucia all the best for the future.
Taking over the office administrator role will be Michelle Farrell (pictured right). Michelle has a background in both administration and Early Childhood Education. She joins us on 13 December so she can be trained by Lucia before she flies solo on our return to work on 5 January after the Christmas break.
Michelle says:
“Kia Ora. My name is Michelle, and I am very excited to be taking up the role of office administrator at the YMCA.
“I am married to John, and we live in Taradale with our little dog, Theo. I have three adult children. I have lived in Hawke’s Bay for most of my life and appreciate the many wonderful attractions that Hawke’s Bay has to offer. I enjoy spending time with family, crafting, Zumba fitness, travelling in our Motorhome and spending time at the beach.
“I am very much looking forward to my new role and joining the team at YMCA Hawke’s Bay.”
